Cemetery Deed Ownership Transfers
Cemetery lot deeds can be transferred to family members or other parties according to a will left by a deceased owner. No privately owned cemetery lot can be sold or transferred to another party without the permission of the City Manager. In order to transfer a cemetery lot(s) to another party, the original deed must be surrendered to the City. Additionally, the Cemetery Lot Transfer Form must be completed and submitted with the deed. There is a $25 processing fee which must be paid at the time of the transfer. For further information, please refer to the Code of Ordinances, Part II, Chapter 7.
If the owner of the lot(s) is deceased, the transfer can only be completed if the person making the request is in possession of the original deed, is the executor of the estate, or has other legal paperwork showing that he or she is authorized by the estate to make the request.
